Part of my attempt to find a good decaffeinated tea.
Kati cup, 3g of tea, 10oz of 212 F water, steep for 5 minutes.
Ring of dark yellow-brown that immediately fades to black. Perhaps the least visibility I’ve seen so far.
The closest to a real vanilla scent I’ve seen so far, but some of that breadiness is still there which is weird given that this one isn’t a rooibos for once. Perhaps that’s just what hot vanilla smells like, I guess it’s not a common experience for me.
Oh god it’s the bread taste! Have I been bamboozled–has the bread taste been from the vanilla all along? That’s really all I get, what black tea? I mean, I can tell it’s not just vanilla water but the tea itself has no character.
I caved and decanted the tea into a mug with some milk and sweetener. It’s a lot better that way, oof.
Vanilla is muted and mostly the bland black tea is left.
